Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do,
do all to the glory of God.'
1 Corinthians 10:31

Halloween holds a bit of charm for us as we remember our
childhood experiences with the day.
Little children just don't understand why Halloween isn't just
some nice holiday to experience, to dress up in 'fun clothing',
and shop around the neighborhood for treats.
If we could keep it at that, and only for the very young, it could
be another time of happiness in a child's life and memory.
But, it's far from innocent anymore.

You don't have to take away your kids fun. Give them an alternative.

It isn't bad about dressing up and getting a bag full of candy.
They might even share with you and their friends.
However, if you choose not to let them participate in Halloween
activities, that is absolutely fine.

Here are some suggestions for
an alternative for Halloween:

As Christians, we can take a different approach to this holiday,
much like we do with Christmas, and shine the Light for Jesus
on Halloween.

Parties can be held for children where Christian games can be played.
Adults can spend the evening in prayer, interceding for those
who are out and are ignorantly involved in this
devil-oriented celebration.

Take your children trick or treating in your neighborhood and pass out
tracts to those who are gracious enough to give your little
children candy.

If you are a woman alone, we do not recommend that you
answer your door on Halloween or during the trick or treating time,
unless there is another adult with you.
Invite a friend to spend the evening with you.

Simple 'trick or treating' in the neighborhoods anymore is gone.
You will always see something of a bad nature, no matter how
careful you are to take your children to good neighborhoods.
There always has to be someone who will put a damper on anything
good.

Don't forget to inspect the treats for open wrappers
or suspicious items.

Maybe have a special fun family dinner that the kids help you make
and rent a family movie to watch together.

Buy a pumpkin and carve a cross in it, symbolizing that
Jesus is the light of
the world.

'Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good
works and glorify your Father in heaven.'

Matthew 5:16

How is the way we clean out a pumpkin like the way Jesus cleans us
out when we confess our sins?

All the yucky stuff is taken away.

"Anyone who believes in Christ is a new creation. The old is gone!
The new has come!
It is all from God. He brought us back to himself through Christ's
death on the cross.
And he has given us the task of bringing others back to him through Christ."
2 Corinthians 5:17

How is the way the candle light comes through the pumpkin like
the way God wants our light to shine?

God wants our light to shine and help others find their way to Him.
"God said, 'Let light shine out of darkness.'
He made his light shine in our hearts.
It show us the light of God's glory in the face of Christ."
2 Corinthians 4:6

So let's listen to the words of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
and let our light shine on a day that is typically known for
it's evil.
