Here's some examples of their false
teachings:
In John 1:1, the NWT says that Jesus is a
god, instead of
was God.
That's a total perversion of the original Scriptures.
John 8:58 is where Jesus said, "Before Abraham
was, I am."
This matches God's statement to Moses in Exodus 3:14,
meaning that Christ is God.
However, the NWT says,
"Before Abraham came into existence, I have been."
This destroys the valuable cross reference to Exodus
3:14.
The JW's believe that Jesus was "a god" before the
time
of Abraham, but that He was not the "I AM" of Exodus
3:14.
Jehovah's Witness leaders needed a scripture to promote
their
"bible studies", which are actually studies of their own
literature,
so they altered John 17:3 to provide
one.
"This means everlasting life, their "taking in knowledge" of
you,
the only true God, and of the one whom you sent
forth, Jesus Christ."
New World Translation
The friendly Witness at your door will then explain that you
must "take in knowledge" from their organization to have
salvation through the dreadful "battle of Armageddon"
coming soon.
This actual scripture really says:
"And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only
true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."
John 17:3
JWs use the terminology of "new light" to explain it
away.
The concept of New light is taken from Proverbs 4:18
"But the path of the just is like the shining sun, That
shines
ever brighter unto the perfect day."
The Bible does not teach this at all.
JW's pervert the Scriptures.
The JWs have tampered with and wrongfully interprets
the
context of hundreds of Scriptures.
Many scholars will not even apply the term
"translation" to
their "bible".
JWs believe
and teach that Jesus rose invisibly in three days,
so Jehovah had to "materialize" a fake body for him
complete
with fake nail prints so His disciples would believe
it was
really Jesus risen.
This is total blasphemous!
JWs are told to put aside personal opinion
regarding
Scriptures, but rather have complete confidence
in the leaders, as even Jehovah trusts them.
"It is better to trust in the Lord than to put
confidence in man."
Psalm 118:8
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean
not on your
own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths."
Proverbs 3:5-6
JWs also practice shunning. This
shunning is virtually all
encompassing; JWs will not speak at all to a
disfellowshipped
or disassociated person, and may even avoid family
functions
where such ones will be present.
JWs will not even eat with disfellowshipped
or disassociated
family members.
When a family member is shunned,
their extended family
(children, grandchildren) are also typically shunned
along with
them, even if these ones were never
Jehovah’s
Witnesses in the first place.
It’s also outright encouraged that members shun
other
members in the congregation if they feel they are not
living up to certain standards of conduct.
Jehovah's
Witnesses are
not
allowed to
befriend
people
of other
faiths; they
are directed
to only
socialize
within
their own
religion.
Non-believers
are considered
to belong to
"Satan's
world,"
and
associating
with them
should,
according to
Witness
doctrine, be
avoided at all
costs.
Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that the Bible
teaches that
Jesus is the Son of God, not part
of a Trinity.
That's a lie.
JWs teach that there is no
such person as the Holy Spirit.
The main false doctrines taught by
the JW's are:
(1) that God is not a Trinity,
(2) that Jesus Christ did not physically rise from
the dead,
(3) that there will be no literal and physical
Second Coming
of Christ, and
(4) that there will be no place of eternal torment (Hell)
for the
wicked.
On pg. 102 of the 1946 edition of
"Let God Be True,"
the JW's make a very blasphemous statement
concerning
the Holy Trinity:
'Sincere persons who want to know the true God and serve
Him find it a bit difficult to love and worship a
complicated,
freakish looking, three-headed God.'
Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that the Trinity is
unbiblical
because the word "Trinity" is not in the Bible and because
the Bible emphasizes that there is one God.
God
is a Trinity.
He is not 3 Gods, like the JW's accuse us
of believing.
True, there is only one God.
Even though the word Trinity isn't in the Bible,
there are 3 persons in the Godhead trinity.
2 Corinthians, Matthew 28:19
The
Trinity -
The Father:
1 Pet. 1:2
Jesus:
John 20:28; Hebrews 1:8
and the Holy Spirit:
Acts 5:3-4
1 John 5:7 says, "For there are three that
bear witness in heaven:
the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these
three are one."
Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that the Holy Spirit is an
impersonal
force of God and not a distinct person.
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the
Trinity.
Matthew 28:19
"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will
send in
My name, He will teach you all things, and bring
to your
remembrance all things that I said to you."
John 14:26
“Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be
forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will
not
be forgiven men.
Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will
be
forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the
Holy Spirit,
it will not be forgiven him, either in this age
or in the age
to come."
Matthew 12:31-32
JWs teach that Hell is just a grave, and
not a real place.
That's huge deception!
Let's
compare Revelation
19:20 with 20:10.
Before the 1,000 year reign of Christ, the beast and the
false
prophet were cast into the lake of fire.
Were they annihilated as the JWs teach?
No, for 1,000 years later, they are still alive, and the
devil joins
them in their condition of torment. Scripture says, they;
"shall be tormented day and night, forever and ever."
Revelation 20:10
JWs
like to think the fire would annihilate them or consume
them,
but God is capable of altering the properties of
fire.
Consider the burning bush of Moses' day that was not
consumed,
and that also the "fiery furnace" of Daniel's day.
JWs
claims that it would be unloving and unjust for God to
punish someone forever.
Unfortunately, they are denying the teachings of
Jesus himself on
this subject.
Jesus spoke more about Hell than He did about
Heaven.
Jesus described Hell (Hades) as a place of torment and
agony in
fire that does not go out.
Hell is a real place, just like Heaven
is.
It is where God, Who is Holy and Just, will cast anyone
who
is “not written in the book of life”.
Revelation 20:15
God gives strong and sufficient warning
about Hell.
There are many words used in the Bible to describe what
is considered to be Hell.
None of them give any hope, and they
certainly are not
encouraging.
Hell fire and danger
Matthew 5:22
Outer darkness
Matthew 8:12
Weeping and gnashing of teeth
Luke 13:28
Place of torment
Luke 16:28
Lake of fire burning with brimstone
Revelation 19:20
Everlasting fire
Matthew 18:8
Damnation of Hell
Matthew 23:33
Fire that never shall be quenched
Mark 9:43
Where the worm doesn’t die
Mark 9:44
Everlasting destruction
2 Thessalonians 1:9
Out from the presence of the lord
2 Thessalonians 1:9
JWs believe that your relationship with God
is proven by
your works.
Good works have nothing to do with being saved.
John 3:16-17, 36; 6:29,47; Romans 4:1-5;
Galatians 2:16;
Titus 3:5
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and
that
not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not
of works, lest
anyone should boast."
Ephesians 2:8-9
JWs teach that death is annihilation, and
there is no conscious
existence when you are dead.
They also teach that the "soul" is the entire living
person,
and that it is not an immaterial part of you
that continues
on after death of the body.
A condition of "soul sleep" is also not
taught by Jesus.
The people in Hell are not unconscious or
annihilated.
When we really believe the word of God as it
is written, it becomes
evident that Hell is a very real place of
destination, and it's
inhabitants are conscious.
The Bible makes this very clear.
JWs teach that the majority of good people will
live forever on
earth, and not in heaven.
"There is none righteous, no, not one. There is none
who does good,
no, not one."
Romans 3:10
Your soul
( That’s the real you,
your personality, your memories, your very essence.
The body is a shell for
your soul ),
will go either to eternal punishment in hell or
eternal life in heaven.
'For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is
eternal
life in Christ Jesus our Lord.'
Romans 6:23
God sent his only beloved Son, Jesus as a
sacrifice to pay
the penalty for our sin by death on the
cross, so that we would
not have to, so that we may be able to live
in
eternal life with God.
John
3:16
JWs forbid any vaccinations or
organ transplants,
even to save lives.
They are not even allowed to have blood
transfusions,
even to save a child’s life.
JWs
forbid higher education.
Younger JWs clean houses, wash windows, etc.
They suffer from poverty, disappointment, depression,
and low self-esteem.
The
JWs reject the practices of holidays and observances
such as: Easter, Christmas, anniversaries, birthdays,
Mother’s/Father’s Day as well as most other holidays
because
they teach that these traditions to be pagan in nature.
Jehovah's Witnesses
also shun family birthdays, calling them
"pagan", but God celebrated the birth of His son, Jesus,
a practice
we continue to this day.
It's true pagans or heathens also celebrate birthdays,
but we do not
become pagans by rejoicing on a certain day.
Most likely the real reason behind the
forbiddance of family
gatherings such as Christmas, Easter, thanksgiving, and
birthdays
by the Watchtower Society is just to further isolate
Jehovah's
Witnesses from their real families, and make
them more
dependent on the organization.
Among the many traditional American
customs from which
Jehovah's Witnesses refrain, one of the most
controversial is their
refusal to salute the American flag.
JWs
say, 'We view the flag salute as an act of worship.'
There is nothing in the Bible to keep us from saluting
our flag.
The Bible even commands us to have respect and reverence
for
the government because it is an authority that God has
allowed
to be placed over us.
Romans 13, 1 Peter
2:13-14
Bowing, saluting, or pledging is just a sign of respect.
Just like military service members hand salute the
U.S. flag and
their higher ranks.
Or standing and putting your hand over your heart during
the
National Anthem to show respect for our flag and our
military.
Jehovah’s
Witnesses are also very concerned about who you
associate with.
So the Watchtower teaches Jehovah’s Witnesses to think
that all worldly people (everyone who's not a
Jehovah’s Witness)
are bad, and you should only associate with
other Jehovah’s Witnesses.
